Context
In Libya the useful questions are practical and change hourly: which station has fuel, which ATM has cash, which road is open, whether the power is on in a district. That information exists, in group chats and in a few public feeds, but never in one place and never on a map.
Decisions
Blend sources rather than rely on submissions alone. A crowd-sourced app dies when the crowd is small, so reports from people are merged with data pulled from external sources and each point carries where it came from and how old it is. Freshness is shown, not hidden.
Geography in PostGIS, live updates over WebSockets with Redis behind them. "Near me" is a spatial query with an exact answer, and a map that does not move when a report lands is a snapshot.
Consequences
Still in progress. The backend and web map exist; the mobile app and the source integrations are where the remaining work is, and the site above will show as unreachable while the infrastructure moves to the shared platform the other products use.
